Admissions

Requirements and Expectations

We are excited that you are considering Providence Englewood Charter School for your child’s education. Our goal is to work with you to prepare your child for future academic success and responsible citizenship. To date, 100 percent of our students have been accepted into Chicago’s leading high schools.

Providence Englewood has a limited number of spaces available for new students at each grade level. To ensure every student interested in attending Providence Englewood has an equal opportunity, we conduct a lottery system for our open slots. To participate in the lottery, families must complete and submit an admissions application. After a student has been selected in the lottery and in advance of enrollment the following items are needed: (1) prior year grade report (2) prior year standardized test scores (3) certified copy of birth certificate.

Processes and Deadlines

Both new students and students who are returning to Providence Englewood for the next school year must submit their applications and required documents to us no later than Friday, March 2, 2023.

  • All new applications will be entered into the lottery.
  • Students will be chosen via computerized random lottery.
  • Email notices will be sent to inform prospective students and their families of their acceptance or their number position on the wait list.
  • Parents must inform PECS of their students’ acceptance or denial of admission or wait list status within 2 weeks of notification.
  • If the grade level has open seats, the numbers, in order, will fill those seats until capacity is reached (25 students per class). If seats are unavailable, this means the grade level is closed and remaining numbers will go on our school’s wait list.
  • If no commitment can be secured from the family in a reasonable time frame, the school has the right to remove the student from the admit list and pursue other students in order from the established wait list.
